Day Two of Thankfully Reading Weekend

I’ve done a bit better with my reading today than yesterday. I got about forty more pages of Cutting for Stone by Abraham Verghese read. That is, before I ended up falling asleep and taking a three hour nap….guess I was more out of it than I thought from all the holiday festivities.

I still plan on getting a little bit more read on it this evening, and tomorrow promises to be a lazy Sunday. I might switch over to Jim Butcher’s Storm Front tomorrow, but honestly I’m at such an interesting point in Cutting for Stone I’m not sure if I will manage to break myself away from it.

  1. I read Cutting for Stone last year and it was one of my favorite reads. I know some people who thought it started out too slow…but I thought the writing was so beautiful that I really didn’t care. I loved it from start to finish.

  2. Oooh, serendipitous, this one, is on my to read shelf, I think it might be more my style than the Goon Squad to be honest, I love beautiful, poetic prose more than anything.

    • Definitely beautiful writing. I’m really enjoying the descriptions of Ethopia and some of the cultural information given. The public health person in me is really loving it.
